Scott served the Junior Achievement organization for nearly 34 years and continues to play a service role today through his membership with the JA Pioneers where he is currently serving as vice-chair. He began his JA career in Ashland, Kentucky in 1972 as Executive Director, moving on to Des Moines in 1974 as Executive Vice President. From Des Moines, Scott transitioned to Vice President of Operations in Milwaukee before taking his final assignment as President of JA in Orlando, a position he held for 23 years until his 2006 retirement. During his long and distinguished JA career, Scott received many area performance awards including The Golden Circle Award, Peak Performance Award and the Summit Award for 17 of the 18 years it was awarded during his tenure. He also received the President’s Award, the Charles R. Hook Award and was among the three inaugural recipients of the esteemed Frances Hesselbein ‘How to Be’ Award. Scott was a respected leader on many taskforces and committees including the Marketing Taskforce, Field Operations Advisory Committee (FOAC), Rural Expansion Taskforce, Pension Management Committee and the Strategic Leadership Committee retention Taskforce. He also served as the 1992 National Business Hall of Fame Chair, 1992 National Leadership Conference Chair and as the President’s Roundtable Chair. In reflecting on his career, Scott was asked to state his most memorable JA experience. Scott responded, ”During my tenure in Orlando, I am most proud of leading a tremendous group of talented professionals and highly motivated volunteers in building one of the highest performing JA organizations in the country.”
