JA Charity Fair is designed for students in upper elementary and lower middle grades. Following participation in the supplement, students will be able to:

• Understand the basics of personal budgeting and the need for proactive planning as it pertains to charitable giving, taking into account income and other spending and saving needs.

• Understand there is an opportunity cost inherent in making a financial decision to give charitably.

• Apply specific strategies for selecting a charitable organization.

• Understand there are alternatives to cash donation, including alternative methods of payment and donation of time or items.

• Recognize that selecting a particular organization to donate to is neither good nor bad, but that each choice can have a different consequence for the donor, organization, and community.

Battle of the Bands is designed for high school students, Grades 9-12. Following participation in the supplement, students will be able to:

• Determine how a person’s income can reflect the choices she or he has made about education, training, skills, and careers.

JA Hire Yourself is designed for high school students. Following participation in the supplement, students will be able to:

• Describe the importance of strategically selecting work in recession-proof industries to succeed in challenging financial times.

JA Proactive Planning is designed for middle grades students. Following participation in the supplement, students will be able to:

• Describe the importance of proactive financial planning as a means of preparing for a changing economy.
• Recall and apply specific strategies designed to recession-proof personal finances.

Analyzing Credit Cards is designed for elementary school students, Grades 4-5. Following participation in the supplement, students will be able to:

• Recognize the fact that credit cards are not good or bad, but how they are used can have positive or negative consequences for a family and for the economy.
