Description: The Achievement Foundation, Inc., an independent not-for-profit organization, provides an annual award of $5,000 in memory of Joseph Francomano, a past president of JA. The award, which may be renewed for a total of four years, can be used at any accredited four-year college or university for any program leading to a baccalaureate degree.

Special
Requirements:

A high school senior graduating before June 30. The committee requires a personal essay form each applicant. Applicants will need to respond in 250 words or less to a question concerning current issues. The question for 2011-12 is: You are a successful entrepreneur. In one sentence, provide your definition of the term “successful entrepreneur.” Then explain in 250 words or less, “How would you actively help the US economy recover from the current economic recession?”  The essay should be typed and double spaced.

Demonstrated leadership and excellent extracurricular and community activities. Financial need.

Recommendation
Letters:

One from a JA Company Program or JA Economics consultant, one from local JA Staff Executive, and one from a teacher or other school official.
