February 1 for scholarship starting September of the same year.

 

Description:

The Achievement Foundation, Inc., an independent not-for-profit organization, provides an annual award of $5,000 in memory of Joseph Francomano, a past president of JA. The award, which may be renewed for a total of four years, can be used at any accredited four-year college or university for any program leading to a baccalaureate degree.

 

Number Awarded:

One award is given annually.

 

Amount:

Four-year, $5,000 per year scholarship for a total of $20,000

 

Participation in:

JA Company Program or JA Economics, JA Banks in Action, JA Be Entrepreneurial, JA Business Ethics, JA Careers with a Purpose, JA Exploring Economics, JA Personal Finance, JA Success Skills, JA Titan.

 

Course of Study:

Major in any field of study.

 

Special Requirements:

A high school senior graduating before June 30. The committee requires a personal essay form each applicant. Applicants will need to respond in 250 words or less to a question concerning current issues. The question for is: How does free enterprise create prosperity? The essay should be typed and double spaced.

Demonstrated leadership and excellent extracurricular and community activities. Financial need.

 

Recommendation Letters:

Three Letters of Recommendation (at least one must be from a JA staff member or a JA volunteer).
