| Description: |
The Achievement Foundation, Inc., an
independent not-for-profit organization, provides an annual award of $5,000 in memory of
Joseph Francomano, a past president of JA. The award, which may be renewed for a total of
four years, can be used at any accredited four-year college or
university for any program leading to a baccalaureate degree. |

Special
Requirements: |
A high school senior graduating before June
30. A minimum grade point average of 3.0. A personal essay 500 words
or less. The essay should address the following topic:
Financial fraud at several major American
corporations has shocked and frightened Americans, and cost them
billions of dollars. Many believe that these events have underscored
the need for a return to core values in business, of high standards
of ethics and excellence. Do you agree, and why or why not? As a
young entrepreneur, what do you believe should be done to restore
public confidence in business? What do you personally plan to do to
help effectuate these changes?
Demonstrated leadership and excellent
extracurricular and community activities. Financial need. |
Recommendation
Letters: |
One from a JA Company Program or JA Economics consultant, one from
local JA Staff Executive, and one from a teacher or other school
official. |
