Volunteers: Thank you for making the commitment to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. You are an important part of the success of Junior Achievement! Your presence at Capital One/Junior Achievement Finance Park will be invaluable. You will share a vast array of personal experiences with children and a vision of the many career and life choices that are available to them. In addition, you will inspire them by showing interest in their efforts to practice and apply personal financial management skills. The JA staff is ready and available to make sure you are successful at Capital One/Junior Achievement Finance Park. Relax, have fun, enjoy the students, and, most of all, know that your commitment and passion are appreciated. Student Characteristics: Seventh through Ninth Grade – 12- to 15-year-olds Never underestimate this age group. They want to learn about almost everything and they have the ability to think abstractly. More important, they need to feel cared about and respected by the adults in their lives. Consequently, no matter what textbooks, materials, or curriculum guides are used, the teachers are the curriculum. Developing comfortable and secure relationships with the students is a high priority. Volunteer Preparation:
