Learn and compete to become the Bank of Choice!

Welcome to the exciting world of money and finance! Everyone is interested in money, and bankers deal with more of it than anyone. You and your classmates now operate a bank and are responsible for managing all the money in it. You will learn how bankers make decisions and practice making banking decisions yourself. The most successful bankers are those who create a winning strategy to best serve their customers and increase profits by managing the banks assets and liabilities against others competing in the market.

JA Banks in Action is a volunteer-led program built around eight classroom sessions. During each session, students learn the fundamentals of the banking industry and then have the opportunity to apply what they learn in a competitive environment using the JA Banks in Action computer simulation. Through the simulation, students form banking teams and operate a bank over time by making several decisions, each of which represents three months or a calendar quarter. Competing banks are doing the same thing and the banks start out on an equal basis. The banking team that develops the best strategy and makes a greater profit than its competitors is the winner, earning the title “Bank of Choice.”

This new JA Banks in Action replaces the older version of the program originally developed by Junior Achievement Argentina and Citigroup Argentina.

The classroom-based version of JA Banks in Action offers a program kit containing lesson materials, and administrator control of the simulation. It is available only through your local JA office.
