Bowl-A-Thon What is "Bowling for JA?" A fun-raising event that has a successful history at JA of Southern California, Inc. A bowl-a-thon begins with a company commitment to organize teams of five people who raise a team goal of $875 (or $175 per person) for JA's in-school economic educational programs. On a specified day, all of the teams come together to submit their contributions and celebrate their hard work at the bowling center. Last year, more than $1.5 million was raised. Why Bowl For JA? According to the Children’s Trust Fund, an American student drops out of school every five seconds of every school day. Junior Achievement programs teach students why they should stay in school, how a free market economy works, and how to prepare for their future role in the work place. With the help of many fund-raisers and volunteers like you, JA will touch the lives of nearly 170,000 Southern California youths this school year alone by providing program materials free of charge to participating schools. The results: students are exposed to dynamic role models who reinforce the importance of education and staying in school while laying a foundation for success. What is My Obligation? Whether you are a Company Coordinator, Team Captain, or Team Member, you are asked to raise money to support JA programs by collecting pledges from co-workers, clients, friends, or family members. Your personal goal is to raise, collect, and submit $175 by the day of your event to be eligible for terrific individual incentive prizes! Your involvement can help students throughout Los Angeles County strive for success; the more you raise, the more programs we can provide.
The Event - "Bowling for Treasure" Arrrrrrrgggg!!!!! You don’t have to be a good bowler, a pirate or walk the plank to participate in bowl-a-thon. All you need is the desire to inspire a kid. Every dollar helps JA inspire another kid to achieve, and walking the plank (lane) is easier than you think. Accept the challenge to raise a minimum of $175 and make a difference in the lives of children.
