2006 School Business Partnership of the Year: UPS and Fickett Elementary School

Since 1995, UPS has made the students at Fickett Elementary School a corporate priority.

For this past year’s JA Whole School event, 27 UPS volunteers taught 29 classes, impacting a total of 502 students!  Fickett Elementary School plays a key role in the relationship through providing strong leadership, fostering an environment that is open and appreciative of the resources UPS invests, and adequately preparing students for their interactions with UPS volunteers.

Congratulations to both Fickett Elementary and UPS for being a model JA school/business partnership!

Volunteer of the Year: Rich Cellino,

CB & T

As a volunteer in JA of Georgia’s Columbus District, Rich Cellino’s passion and excitement for JA are evident when you see him in the classroom.  In matching Rich with a class, his only requirement is to go where he is most needed and will make the most impact.

His passion for JA and dedicated participation were also part of the proposal to his company’s foundation which led to the securing of a 3 year commitment of $20,000 each year to the Columbus District. Rich also serves as Vice Chair of the JA of Georgia- Columbus Board of Directors, and is an important part of the district office’s success.

Congratulations, Rich!

Teacher of the Year: Glenda Grate,

Tri-Cities High School

Glenda Grate is an incredible supporter of JA and her dedication to her students seems tireless, extending well beyond school hours.

Last year, Ms. Grate helped coordinate JA programs that served over 1,500 students.

These Tri-Cities High School students participated in JA programs in the classroom, JA Company Program, JA Diplomats, and various JA Job Shadow opportunities, including several high-profile opportunities such as shadowing Governor Purdue and Senator Saxby Chambliss.

Congratulations, Ms. Grate!
