JA, comitted to staying on the cutting edge of experiential learning!

New for the 2008- 2009 School Year

2nd Grade:  A downloadable version of the song from the Our Community program (Activity 5: Money Moves) is now available online at http://www.ja.org/programs/programs_elem_comnty.shtml. Previously, it was only accessible on a cassette tape in the kit. The new MP3 file can be played from a computer with Internet access, or downloaded onto an MP3 player to use in classrooms that cannot obtain cassette players.

Elementary Afterschool Program:  JA Worldwide and HSBC Holdings plc have announced a global collaboration on a HSBC Signature Program titled JA More than Money, formerly known as JA Dollar$ and $ense. Look for the new program name on ja.org and other JA materials this summer. Program materials renamed JA More than Money will be available from JASCO beginning in fall 2008.

NEW High School Program:  JA Exploring Economics is a new, kit-based, high school program to accompany the JA Economics curriculum.  Its projected release date is in summer 2008. Thank you to MetLife Foundation for its generous sponsorship of this program.

Q.  What’s the difference between JA Economics and the new program, JA Exploring Economics?

A.  JA Economics is a semester-long, teacher-led program, centered on a textbook. A volunteer leads a minimum of seven sessions or another JA program along with JA Economics.

JA Exploring Economics is a seven-session kit-based program. It is volunteer-led and can serve as the volunteer portion of JA Economics or as a stand-alone kit.

Both are high school programs.
