JA ACADEMY

The JA Academy is a Junior Achievement after-school program for ambitious high school students interested in learning about business and entrepreneurship. It takes place on-site at area colleges and universities once per week between the hours of 3:30pm and 5:30pm.

JA Academy is an after school mentoring program for high school students developed by Junior Achievement of Eastern MA, Inc. and hosted at area colleges and universities including: Northeastern University, Boston University, Boston College, MIT, UMASS Boston, UMASS Lowell, Babson College, Northern Essex Community College, Suffolk University, and Dean College.

Through participation in JA Academy, students are given an opportunity to take hold of their future, follow their dreams, and pursue success.  Students run their own company and sell products with the help of business professionals and college students.  This mentor team guides students as they address business ethics, teamwork, leadership skills, and goal setting while handling the day-to-day operations of their venture.  Examples of products include candy-filled mugs, boxer shorts, jewelry in hand-painted boxes, and water bottles.

To maximize the experience, JA Academy students present their business plan and annual report during two company board meetings held at area corporations. Additionally, guest speakers share their background and provide career and educational highlights to help students understand various career paths.  Lastly, JA Academy exposes students to higher education in a positive and productive manner by being hosted by college campuses.

JA Academy students have opportunities to strive for personal and company achievement through our competitions.

Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from meeting sites each week.  Click here to visit our Student Applications page.

Help spread the word to your friends and classmates who may be interested. Thank you.

Site Information

The JA Academy program is provided at no cost to students.
Last year students enrolled in JAA represented 30 different high schools and after school programs throughout our area.  Together they formed ten student companies at eight different site locations at colleges and universities in the Greater Boston area.

If you participated last year, we hope you will return for another semester and bring a friend!

If you are new to the JA Academy, we look forward to seeing you soon!
