Junior Achievement National Teacher of the Year
Each year, Junior Achievement honors Junior Achievement high school economics and business teachers with the Teacher of the Year award. This is a two-tier model that recognizes a National Teacher of the Year and four runners-up. The Teacher of the Year award is bestowed upon a high school educator who goes above and beyond to inspire young people to succeed in a global economy using JA high school programs.
Winners are selected by independent judges from the academic community based on evidence of excellence, effectiveness, and innovation in at least one of the following areas: extension of a JA high school program into the community, written adaptation of a JA high school program, acting as a mentor, professional activities, media recognition, and student achievement.
The National Teacher of the Year receives a $2000 cash award. Each runner-up receives $500.
