  • HSBC – North America sets new mark for Volunteers in 2007: HSBC’s National Volunteer Partnership program reached out to 50,000 students last year through 2,405 employee volunteers who taught JA programs in 2007. This is the most volunteers HSBC has ever had in a single year. Overall, 95 JA offices received support from HSBC last year, with 88 participating in the HSBC/JA Volunteer Alliance Partnership.
     

  • HSBC Sets Record For JA Classroom Volunteer Efforts: During the spring 2007 semester, HSBC employees delivered 1,417 JA programs to 30,992 students in 327 cities across the country. In support of their volunteer efforts for Junior Achievement, HSBC recently awarded the organization $577,600 - part of HSBC’s annual $795,000 commitment to JA.
     

  • World's Largest Bowlathon: Through contributions collected by HSBC employees and a corporate grant based on employee fundraising, this year’s "World’s Largest Bowlathon" raised $1.1 million for nearly 40 JA offices. An increase of 18% over last year's efforts, more than 50,000 children will now be able to participate in JA programs as a result of the hard work and generosity of HSBC employees.
     

  • HSBC was recently honored with the Silver President's Volunteer Service Award. In 2006, Junior Achievement became an official certifying organization for this award in order to bestow this degree of honor to corporations that provide volunteers to teach JA programs. HSBC's Silver Award recognizes 10,000 volunteer hours or more.
     

  • HSBC Honored for Public Service: The New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) recently presented HSBC – North America with a Public Service Award for HSBC’s community investment.  HSBC is one of only three companies to receive the award this year. JA of New Jersey nominated HSBC for this award in recognition of HSBC’s efforts to serve as role models, helping young people learn about entrepreneurship, work readiness, and financial literacy. During the2005-2006 school-year, 219 HSBC employee volunteers taught the Junior Achievement curriculum to 3,176 New Jersey students.
     

  • At the June 22nd Junior Achievement Board Meeting in Vancouver, HSBC was presented with the inaugural Extreme Partnership Award. Dame Mary Richardson, chief executive of HSBC Global Education Trust, and JA board member, accepted the award on behalf of HSBC.  This annual award was developed to recognize one Junior Achievement board firm that has made significant, strategic, global impact on all levels of the Junior Achievement organization for at least three consecutive years.
     

  • This year marked the sixth anniversary of the national HSBC-Junior Achievement "World's Largest Bowl-a-thon." The event supports JA's economic education programs, and last year saw 4,700 employee bowlers participate, raising almost $900,000 for 23 local JA offices. As a result of the partnership and support of the HSBC Bowl-a-thon, more than 40,000 students will be able to participate in JA programs. The event took place on March 25-26, 2006.
