What if you could connect kids around the world?
Junior Achievement (JA) is doing something about the need to connect students — our future leaders and workforce - around the globe. We are working with kindergarten students in Cleveland, junior high students in Moscow, high school students in Sydney, and college students in São Paulo — all at the same time. In fact, during the 2007-2008 school year alone, more than 9,300,000 students in 123 countries experienced the life-enhancing programs of Junior Achievement. Nine million students? Sounds good until you understand that there are more than 1.6 billion students around the world eager to receive our programs and experiences that will give them the best chance to reach their own definitions of success. There is so much more work to do. Campaign for Connections Needs Your Support We need your involvement. And we have an important way for you to help through Junior Achievement’s CAMPAIGN FOR CONNECTIONS — a campaign to help all kids reach their dreams. To Give: Donate today, right from your computer. Investor Profile: Cathy Brune, Allstate Insurance Company You might think that after 57 uninterrupted years of supporting the children and programs of Junior Achievement, that Allstate Insurance Company and the Allstate Foundation had pretty much "done it all," but that was before they became excited about the potential for change and growth that the Business Transformation Initiative — and its corresponding funding effort Campaign for Connections — could bring to this organization. Recognizing that the ability to handle communications and data transfer for a locally-based not-for-profit was very important, Allstate felt that today's JA, which reaches young people around the globe, could truly be transformed if the right technologies were in place. That is why they have become an outstanding supporter of this critical infrastructure project. But how does Allstate and the Allstate Foundation show support? Certainly through the funding that has come from both the Foundation and Corporate funding sources, but also through the campaign leadership of Cathy Brune, Allstate's Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. Cathy's dedication had moved this fundraising effort ahead smartly — and she had also put her personal financial resources to work, making sure that in addition to her general support of JA Worldwide, she made a special significant investment in Campaign for Connections. How does Cathy spell "leadership?" By never asking anyone to support a project that she has not already giver her support to! The Allstate Insurance Company, the Allstate Foundation and Cathy Brune: JA is fortunate to be able to count this trio among its best friends.
