Former Junior Achievement president Karl Flemke said at the time, "The restoration campaign is a natural fit for Junior Achievement students. Our roots are planted in the American way of life and the statue is a symbol to the world of the dreams and aspirations that way of life makes possible." JA student companies from across the country committed to raise $100,000 toward the "Save the Lady" campaign. It worked. Today a small plaque on Ellis Island honors those caring, teen-aged corporate citizens.
