Sam Johnson joined the family business in 1954, and grew the business forty fold through diversification during nearly four decades at the helm. He and his chemists developed the first water-based bug spray that was safe for use on plants indoors and outdoors. In 1975, Johnson decided to stop using CFC’s in his company’s aerosols, which was years before a U.S. ban of the same, and led to his recognition as corporate America’s leading environmentalist. |
