Benjamin Graham’s book, Security Analysis introduced the mathematical analysis of the value of common stocks and helped establish the profession of security analysis. After college, he took a job on Wall Street that paid $12 a week. Before long he had validated his idea that common stocks could be a better buy than bonds if sound judgment were used to select them. Graham's real coup, however, came when he purchased for himself and some associates a half interest in Government Employees Insurance Co. (GEICO) in 1948. This investment made him a small fortune. |
