Roberto Goizueta came to the United States from his native Cuba with little more than a suitcase and 100 shares of Coca-Cola stock. By 1981, he was chairman and CEO of the Coca-Cola Company, which at that time was a company with large U.S. operations but a less notable international presence. Goizueta aggressively expanded Coca-Cola into international marketplaces. When he died in 1997, Coca-Cola was a global powerhouse.
