King Gillette, the son of a patent agent, made a respectable living as a salesman and inventor of metal products. Shaving one morning on a swaying railroad car, he had an idea that changed the face of the world. He reasoned that people would buy razors with blades that could be replaced with new ones when they became dull. This improvement would be even more important because the device would be safer than the straight razor. Gillette's new razors were an instant success. |
