Albert Davis Lasker was fond of saying that he made "more money out of advertising than any man who ever lived." The “father of modern advertising” entered the industry at a time when advertising agencies simply took copy prepared by the advertiser and placed it in periodicals. He convinced advertisers that they could multiply sales with catchy copy. Lasker trained nine newspapermen in the new art of copy writing. Lasker popularized California oranges and Kleenex.
