Ray Kroc was 52-years old when he discovered a small chain of hamburger stands in California that used the milkshake mixers he sold. He bought the chain out in 1961 and turned it into the world’s largest restaurant chain by delivering an unbeatable combination–quality, speed, low prices, and cleanliness. Leaving nothing to chance, he imposed assembly-line techniques on his operations, automating every cooking function, so that a handful of entry level employees could efficiently serve hundreds of customers a day. |
