Henry Ford helped Ford Motor Company develop assembly-line manufacturing. In 1903 he was appointed vice-president and chief engineer. With the introduction of the Model T in 1908, Ford realized his dream of producing a reasonably priced, reliable, and efficient automobile. By 1921, the Ford Motor Company dominated auto production with 55 percent of the industry’s total output. He revolutionized auto production through precision manufacturing, the use of interchangeable parts, division of labor, and a moving assembly line. Production was so efficient that Ford was able to lower prices, increase wages, and increase earnings. |
