Walter H. Annenberg created TV Guide believing that people would read about TV. He had the national section of the magazine printed at several sites and then distributed the guide to 10 regions where it was combined with local listings. He filled it with one week of programming and made it compact. During the 1960s, TV Guide outsold Reader’s Digest to become the best-selling magazine in the country. At its peak, TV Guide’s circulation was 20 million copies a week.
