Wayne Huizenga has had unprecedented success as an entrepreneur, being the only person in America to be responsible for six companies listed on the New York Stock Exchange and to have founded three Fortune 500 companies. Among his many successes are Waste Management, Inc. and Republic Services, two of the world’s largest waste disposal companies; Blockbuster Entertainment, the global leader in video entertainment; and AutoNation, Inc., the world’s largest public automotive dealership. He also founded Boca Resorts, an owner and operator of luxury resorts in South Florida; and co-founded Extended Stay America. Huizenga brought Major League Baseball to South Florida in 1993, winning the World Series with the Florida Marlins in 1997. He also brought the National Hockey League to South Florida, and guided the Florida Panthers to the Stanley Cup finals during the 1995-96 season. Huizenga owns the National Football League’s Miami Dolphins and Dolphins Stadium.
