Ken Chenault has built a record of accomplishments at American Express dating back to 1981. In the early 1990's, he provided strong leadership as the company addressed serious issues that threatened its core card franchise. During this time, Chenault led the efforts to segment the charge card business, significantly expand the credit card and other consumer lending businesses, increase merchant coverage, introduce industry-leading reward programs, and reengineer the company's cost base and key business processes. Chenault was also instrumental in driving improvement in employee satisfaction, and developing cultural and organizational attributes needed to win in the marketplace. |
