Thomas Edison held more than 1,000 patents. He also found practical applications for the discoveries of Volta, Ampere, and Faraday. Using their findings, he invented the electric light bulb, the phonograph, and the movie projector. Edison thought it was a waste of time to manually report telegraph signals, so he invented the transmitter and receiver for the automatic telegraph. Edison’s innovations changed the way businesses operated. He and his partners invented, built, and shipped products in the same location. |
