Martha Ingrams was known for her philanthropic activities in Nashville. When her husband died in 1995, few people knew whether or not she could fill the void. However, a series of bold moves, including the spin-off and public offering of Ingram Micro, the country’s largest computer wholesaler, established Ingram as a sharp business manager. Today, Ingram Industries and Ingram Entertainment provide distribution for products as varied as Windows 98 and Barnes & Noble’s books. |
