Edward Donley joined Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. in 1943, three years after the company was started. He became president in 1966 and chairman in 1978, playing an integral role in the development of Air Products and Chemicals before he retired in 1986. Donley retired from the Executive Committee of Air Products' Board in 1992.
Donley graduated from Lawrence Technological University in 1943 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
Since retirement, Donley has taken a leadership role in supporting education reform, including serving on the governing board of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), also known as the Nation’s Report Card and a cornerstone of President Bush’s “No Child Left Behind.”
Donley has received numerous honorary degrees and awards, including the Society of Chemical Industry's Chemical Industry Medal in 1980 for his contributions to the industry. |
