Samuel Newhouse’s first job was as an office boy and bookkeeper for a newspaper. When his employer became tired of the newspaper business, he told Newhouse to go downstairs and look after the paper. And he did, he built the company into the Newhouse Publishing. Newhouse was committed to the idea of family and kept the business within the control of 25 relatives. He would not let growth go beyond the point where key members of the family could not pay attention to detail. |
