Robert Mondavi worked at his family’s winery for more than 20 years, before he started the Robert Mondavi Winery. He was a leader in raising the quality of U.S. wines to world-class standards. Mondavi was one of the first wine makers in America to age his wines in small oak barrels rather than in large cement or redwood tanks, thereby adding complexity to many varieties of wine. Mondavi has made California wine synonymous with quality. His winery produces about 500,000 cases of quality wine per year. |
