Olive A. Beech, together with her husband Walter Beech, started Beech Aircraft. They developed the Model 17, a single-engine biplane that became an aviation classic and the twin-engine Model 18 that became the chief training plane for the Army and Navy in World War II. Beech was an important defense contractor during the War. In 1980 Olive Beech sold Beech Aircraft Company to Raytheon Co.
