Stephen D. Bechtel inherited Bechtel Group from his father Warren. He shifted the company from rudimentary concrete work and earth moving to ship building, engineering for the Atomic Energy Commission, and consulting. Bechtel emerged as a leader in the field of nuclear power; eventually becoming involved in one third of the nuclear plants built in the United States. | ||||||||
