Jack Massey bought a drugstore in Nashville and was so successful that he expanded his shop to a five-store chain during the Depression. In 1935 he sold the drugstores and became a wholesale purveyor of surgical supplies. A friend in Louisville introduced him to Colonel Sanders, who asked Massey to run Kentucky Fried Chicken Corp. He took KFC public and turned it into a fast-food colossus. He also brought Hospital Corp. of America and Winners Corp. to the New York Stock Exchange. |
