NEWS RELEASE For Immediate Release: NEW TEEN CAREER EXPLORATION TOOLS ARE JUST A MOUSE-CLICK AWAY New virtual Job Shadow tool gives teens a first-hand look at life on-the-job. Colorado Springs, Colo. – Junior Achievement, DeVry University, and Career Corner Digital have partnered to create a highly engaging career exploration resource for students. Located on the new Junior Achievement Student Center at http://studentcenter.ja.org, fast-paced, first-person videos take students behind the scenes at some of the world's top companies, providing them with an inside look at life on the job. The unique content is comprised of over 100 comprehensive career profiles and leverages technology to deliver an innovative job shadowing tool that helps students make informed decisions about their future. Critical text information about education requirements and future job outlook, along with a post-secondary school search feature, are provided with the videos. "Students today are looking for meaningful information when it comes to career preparation. Thanks to the efforts of Junior Achievement and DeVry University, we're thrilled to provide a high-tech resource that resonates with young people," said Peter Young, president, Career Corner Digital. The resource provides an important secondary purpose as well--to make academic subjects more relevant by showing how they connect to real jobs. "The student drop-out rate is at a crisis level around the country," said Jack Kosakowski, president, Junior Achievement USA. "Too many students fail to connect school subjects to future careers and they lose interest. We need to inspire and motivate young people by showing them the end game and helping them to set goals." The launch of the virtual Job Shadow videos coincides with National Job Shadow Day, February 2.
