NASCAR Champ Darrell Waltrip to Emcee JA Business Hall of Fame

NASCAR CHAMPION DARRELL WALTRIP TO EMCEE JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT U.S. BUSINESS HALL OF FAME GALA

Nashville, Tenn. – Darrell Waltrip, three-time NASCAR champion and Fox Sports broadcast analyst, has been given the green light to emcee the 34th annual Junior Achievement U.S. Business Hall of Fame. The black-tie gala will take place on April 9th at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tenn.

“DW”, as Waltrip is known to his legions of fans, will help present Junior Achievement’s 34th class of laureates with one of the business world’s most prestigious honors. Waltrip is a former Junior Achievement student; he observed how his JA experience showed him the importance of the entrepreneurial spirit, saying, “I didn’t have the vision to do something. Junior Achievement taught me how.”

Junior Achievement’s U.S. Business Hall of Fame recognizes outstanding business achievement across the following areas: business excellence, courageous thinking and actions, vision and innovation, inspiring leadership, and philanthropy. The 2008 U.S. Business Hall of Fame laureates are:

William H.G. France (1909-1992): Founder and President, NASCAR

Thomas F. Frist Jr., M.D.: Co-founder, Hospital Corporation of America (HCA)

Robert L. Johnson: Founder, Black Entertainment Television

John E. Pepper Jr.: Retired Chairman and CEO, The Procter & Gamble Company

Al Neuharth: Founder, USA TODAY

Meg Whitman: President and Chief Executive Officer, eBay Inc.
