The Choice: A Fable of Free Trade and Protectionism by Russell D. Roberts has been recently updated. It is the story of the ghost of a 19th-century economist whose journey takes him through international economic issues facing America and American business today. Available through Amazon.com.

"The E Generation- Prepared for the Entrepreneurial Economy" by Marilyn Kourilsky and William Walstad (Kendall/Hunt Pub. Co., © 2000) analyzes the possibilities and pitfalls of young people who start their own business. It builds a case for enhanced entrepreneurial education in America.

"The 'E' in Me—the Entrepreneur in You" is a three-module program containing eight 50-minute lessons from the Agency for Instructional Technology and the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership. Designed for high school students. See www.ait.net.

"Economics at Work" is a multimedia curriculum program from the Agency for Instructional Technology. See www.ait.net.

www.economicsamerica.org is the Web site for the National Council on Economic Education. It provides national standards on economics as well as classroom lesson plans.

www.economicadventure.org is a multi-layered education resource created by the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for teachers, students, and the general public. The goal is to promote understanding of key economic concepts, including standard of living, economic growth, and rising labor productivity, using New England's unique history. This site features an illustrated, information-packed timeline, case studies, lesson plans, games, an overview of New England's economy, term definitions, and reference resources.

www.estudentgizmo.com Geared towards upper middle and high school teachers, this site allows educators fundraising opportunities and plenty of activities for the classroom.

www.federalreserveeducation.org/FRED The Federal Reserve Education Web site promotes economic education and financial literacy. Among the activities available, users will be able to be a bank examiner for a day or assume the role of Fed Chairman, Alan Greenspan when he and his colleagues set interest rates.

www.getsmartseries.com offers books that educate and empower people to make smarter life decisions in such areas as careers and business.

www.gettech.org introduces students to a wide variety of careers in manufacturing through its fun and innovative web site. Sponsored by the National Association of Manufacturers.

www.intuit.com is the Web site for software packages like Quicken 2001, personal finance software, and QuickBooks 2000, accounting software for small businesses.

JA Recommended Reading list shows how JA can help educators and students reach the "one million words" mark this year. Also available sorted alphabetically.

www.jist.com offers "Becoming the Best Me," an engaging book that helps develop character education and life skills as they relate to careers.

www.jumpstartcoalition.org offers Reality Check, an online assessment students can take to determine how ready they are for the "real world." It also offers online personal finance information for educators.

www.kidzonline.org is a non-profit high-tech digital video production and distribution organization with unique and robust online learning specialties that span the globe. Its rich repository of over 1,000 digital learning resources includes custom created interactive streaming videos for technology training, financial literacy, and geospatial skills.

www.ldonline.org - offers tips and resources for educators who have students with learning disabilities in their class.

www.lightspan.com offers online educational materials including economics lesson plans for teachers.

www.moneyopolis.com offers an online math game, which requires users to demonstrate math skills in the context of some real life money matters. Sites for parents and educators are included.

www.nfte.com is the site for a Web-based entrepreneurial program from the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship. Teachers and consultants will need to register on the site to gain access to the program. JA students and teachers will obtain a 40-percent discount by adding "JA Co." next to your school's or organization's name. NFTE offers a two-week entrepreneurial camp during the summer too, where students work on developing their own businesses.

www.ny.frb.org is the Web site for the Federal Reserve Bank of New York with links to economic indicators, the Fed Challenge, an economic literacy test, online economic research and publications, and much more.

One World: Connecting Communities, Cultures, and Classrooms is a youth program developed by NFL Charities, targeting diversity and cultural awareness. One World is an interdisciplinary, multi-tiered program for teachers, students, and their families that builds upon key lessons relating to diversity.

www.paloalto.com is the Web site for software packages like Business Plan Pro and Marketing Plan Pro.

www.practicalmoneyskills.com is designed to help educators, parents, and students practice better money management for life. To help today's youths and consumers of all ages become financially savvy, Visa has partnered with leading consumer advocates, educators and financial institutions to launch a national program to improve the nation's financial skills -- Practical Money Skills for Life.

www.smg2000.org is an online stock market game for students with additional information for parents and educators.

"Seeds of Success- Entrepreneurship and Youth" by William Walstad and Marilyn Kourilsky (Kendall/Hunt Pub. Co., © 1999) examines the key elements of youth entrepreneurship.
