Q: What is the National Military Role Model Program (NMRMP)?
A: The National Military Rode Model Program is a collaborative project to focus military personnel as JA volunteers in classrooms around the country.
Q: Who is involved in the NMRMP?
A: Fall 2000 implementation will focus on Army ROTC, JROTC, and Recruiters. Discussions are underway with other branches of the military.
Q: How long is the agreement for this military program?
A: This is an on-going agreement that will be continually evaluated based on mutual success. This is not a one-shot deal.
Q: Why is the military interested in volunteering for Junior Achievement?
A: The militarys initiative is to "Reconnect America with its Military." The goal is to establish community partnerships that promote military volunteerism in the community.
Q: What is the timeframe for implementing the NMRMP?
A: Volunteers are available immediately.
Q: Why should I participate in the NMRMP?
A: This program provides a rich source for increased numbers of volunteers, which can subsequently expand the numbers of programs in your area. The military relationship will provide a constant volunteer pool well into the future.
Q: Who initiates contact with the military?
A: The area president initiates contact with the military command in your area.
Q: I am already using military volunteers, am I already doing the NMRMP?
A: The NMRMP is being supported by the Department of Defense and specifically endorsed by leadership within the specific branches. All military volunteers are encouraged to be secured under the auspices of Secretary of Defense Goal #5.
Q: Do I need educators support to have military volunteers in the classroom?
A: Yes, as is the guideline for all JA programs in the classroom.
Q: Who pays for the materials and volunteers?
A: Financial resources are being pursued through national fundraising efforts with the military and other initiatives. Local fundraising efforts are welcome, as always.
Q: Can the military volunteers wear their uniforms?
A: Yes, as with all volunteers, we encourage their demeanor to be indicative of the careers they represent and dress appropriately.
Q: Can the military volunteers team teach?
A: Yes, normal program guidelines are applicable.
Q: Can the military volunteers switch grade levels?
A: See the NMRMP guidelines for volunteer placement. ROTC volunteers can be best placed based upon the decision of the local office.
Q: How do I get started with the NMRMP?
A: Area presidents should contact the local Army command to initiate a presentation of the NMRMP in accordance with Secretary of Defense Goal #5.
